This is a quick post to tell people information about the Flannel Fabric Remnants that are located in the Eason Twins Boutique in the Painted Tree location in Sparks, Nevada.

Flannel Fabric Sizes

The sizes of the remnants are listed on the bags in the store location. The size is for the length of the cut. Each cut is dependent on the way the manufacturer had it rolled and the amount that was purchased. We do not measure the end pieces that are crooked, but we leave them on there because some people need odd amounts. You can cut off the crooked ends and still have the amount that is listed on the bag.

Flannel Fabric Widths

Flannel Fabric widths range, but the majority of Flannel Fabric has the width of 42 or 43 inches. Each company has a different width that they use, but there is still a selvage as well, which means you can assume around 41 inches for the print width. (The selvage are the sides that are used to roll the fabric during printing. They will typically be a white strip on one or both sides, may have printing about the brand, and usually have holes from being attached to the machine during the printing process.) For some projects, the selvage can be used because it will be folded over before sewn.

Are Larger Amounts Available?

The simple answer is maybe, but probably not. Crisi sells the flannel by the yard online because she does not have a physical store to cut and sell out of, and that means that locals cannot come browse the selection. Some of the designs are 10 years old and sold out online years ago. Some of the designs are newer, but typically the remnants are the last of the bolt. HOWEVER, Crisi still sells flannel fabric by the yard on Etsy and you are more than welcome to visit the store and try to find something in a longer piece. Her online store is Snappy Baby on Etsy.

Can the Flannel Be Bought in Store and Picked Up Later?

At this time, we do not have a way to be able to sell in the store for a later pickup. To be honest, with the way gas prices are going, it’s probably cheaper to have the item delivered to your home anyway! If you are a local, just make sure to message Crisi through Etsy and have the shipping combined to the lowest combined shipping price. Shipping prices keep going up as well, so I won’t list that here, but it should be located somewhere on the Snappy Baby store on Etsy. You are not able to buy remnants in the store for shipping, though. The Etsy shop is completely separate from the Eason Twins Boutique.

Can More be Ordered in Bulk of Any of the Designs?

No. The simple fact is that fabric in general is a limited quantity. The designs are limited editions right from the start. Nothing is printed throughout the year anymore (solids are the exception in this case). There are some designs that companies might bring out over and over, but in the last 10 years almost all designs have been completely discontinued at some point. The designs that were considered “regular” stock are no longer being supplied because the various companies have realized that they just don’t sell in the quantities they want after the initial release. Sometimes, a Christmas design will be released two or three years in a row, but even those have been mostly discontinued because they are not continuously purchased year after year.

Can the Design Be Purchased in Cotton?

The designs you see in both the Eason Twins Boutique and the Snappy Baby shop on Etsy are all flannel and only some of the designs were released in cotton. Kim sells cotton in her shop, but we do not currently have any remnants of the cotton in the Eason Twins Boutique. We know that cotton is typically much more popular and in demand, but we just do not have the quantity of remnants in cotton that we have in flannel at this time. We are working on ways to get access to regular cotton (flannel fabric is technically cotton as well), but for right now, you can check out Kim’s Etsy shop at Crafty Twins Fabric on Etsy.

We love that you want to know about project ideas for the fabric! We will have a separate post on ideas for using the remnants and other items in the boutique. Don’t forget, there are other craft related items in the boutique that are excellent for gifts! Sewing kits and the tape measures are excellent little gifts for the crafter in your life.
